What a difference a day and a few chest tubes make

Juliet was a new girl yesterday. Her size was relatively back to normal. She could fully open her eyes. Her vent settings were decreased. She was maintaining her blood pressure (with only a little medicine) and her kidneys were working again. She was MUCH happier. Apparently, she likes chest tubes.

The plan for today is a big move for Jules. She will be transferred to the PICU (pediatric ICU). The doctors (NICU and PICU) feel like it would be best for her to have a "new set of eyes" treating her. Many of her issues are no longer "NICU issues" and she seems to be in a vicious cycle without making forward progress. It is very sad for Chris and I to leave the NICU, where so many of the staff love Jules and know her so well. However, maybe this change is what we need to get her closer to home.

  1. I'm excited about this move... new insight and wisdom! Juliet will have a whole new fan club. They'll fall in love with her instantly, as we have, just from pictures :) Praying for a smooth transition.

  2. Hope all goes well with the move and as Betty said they will fall in love with her immediately.Prayers are still coming your way and maybe this new set of eyes will be just what she needs. Hang in there and God Bless you all. Becky Hinkle

  3. I know how sad it is for you and Chris since you have become comfortable with and trusted in many of Juliet's doctors and nurses in the NICU. Many have certainly gone beyond their call of duty in numerous ways. Thanks to all of you from Juliet's Aunt Laurie and family. You have done an awesome job and we appreciate it! That said, sometimes we need to move out of our comfort zones in life to get further. I am a believer in that everything happens for a reason even if we don't know what it is at the time. Perhaps the new eyes,(PICU) will give insight into something that has been missing or that can be done further to move Juliet onward. If only we could get that annoying fluid to go where it's supposed to go. Wouldn't that be great! Glad that Jules is feeling much better today and more herself. Any pics? I missed not getting any when I was there. Didn't think it a good thing since she wasn't feeling well then. The prayer warriors are on full-time duty throughout this ride. We stand by her side, and yours too, as we continue forward together. I cling to the vision of the day you will be able to bring her home, hold her close and do fun things with her. It's coming. One step forward three steps back is coming to an end soon! Believe it and trust in all our prayers. I'm feeling a little more feisty now just like Juliet. Her strength is filling us all. Hugs and kisses.....aunt laurie
